It’s over. Or at least the hard parts. Grandmother passed away on the 23rd of this month at 8:20am. I was able to visit her the night before though unfortunately I wasn’t awake for her final moments. It was very sad seeing her, knowing that if she was able to talk she would likely be telling me how proud she was and how much she enjoyed my company. I sat with her and held her hand,...

Had a little bit of a falling out with someone today. It’s a little sad because I know they don’t realize how much they’ll have to learn before the real world will allow them to succeed (or at least be happy for that matter). I really wish people would be a little more selfless because with that comes care, love, and understanding. In other news, flying gives me an odd sense of...

It is apparently far too easy to take a good picture.  There are tons of them out there.  How can so many things be so interesting?  And more importantly, why can’t I seem to take them? In other news, I can’t recall anything that was as quite as mean as a comment made to me today.  You wouldn’t really even think something so short and simple could have such an effect.  I’m...

Of Departure and Regret
I’ve been speaking to my Grandmother a bit lately, and I think it’s just starting to hit me that she’s dying. She’s currently in the hospital and has opted to try chemotherapy in order to extend her life for as little as six months. She’s doing all of that just to see her 3 grandchildren get their start in life. I’m just so sad that I don’t feel like...

Quickies in New York: A Letter →
quickienewyork: Dear S. It’s technically Spring, but it’s still cold outside. I remember a few years ago when it got warm in March, and you took me to the park to see the crocuses and daffodils that were just coming up. You told me March was a month of changes, but we had to pay enough attention or we’d miss…

You are terrible at being honest. It’s more about why you’re afraid of what the truth makes you than it is about telling the truth.  If what you are is undesirable, then there’s just a problem with your life that you need to fix.  Whether or not you reveal that truth to others is irrelevant.

Identity |īˈdentitē|
noun ( pl. -ties) the fact of being who or what a person or thing is I do think about whether or not my individual identity is important.  What can I contribute to the collective identity? Is the group that I am a part of important?  What difference will I make? Under the assumption that it is possible, I don’t think individuality is worth much.

Creation
I’m intelligent.  I read a lot of things and I research a lot of new technologies out there.  Ask me a question about how to integrate your <insert random gadget here> with your <insert another random gadget here> I’ll probably know how to do it and know if it can be done well.  I understand all that techno mumbo jumbo that most people look at and fear. But I don’t...

Whoa now!
Sloowwwww down!  Taking everything here too fast, starting to scare myself. Goals for the next 6 months: Pass ALL of my classes (that’s right! I’ll be in school again!) Figure out how to handle my relationships with women. Get a job that doesn’t involve retail or hours that totally suck! Let’s ease into this whole thing slowly.  Also, I’m pretty much through with...

Still running (and not on empty!)
The last few days have been very interesting.  I’m still sticking with the Uberman sleep schedule and have a lot of success.  I went through one of my cycles today though felt like I was absolutely dying from exhaustion though it complete disappeared with my next nap. I’m still taking 30 minute naps as opposed to the 20 minute ones that I could supposedly take (will I ever want to cut...

I feel amazing!
Right now I would normally be dreaming and probably about ready to wake up and start the day.  Instead, I’m about to walk into Matt’s room and make sure he gets up for class and then take a 30 minute nap before heading to class. This weekend I started the Uberman sleep cycle and supposedly the worst is yet to come.  Over the weekend I slept a grand total of 5.5 hours on Friday, 3.5 on...

Attempting a Polyphasic Sleep Schedule
Tomorrow (technically today) I will try to adapt to a polyphasic sleep schedule.  I’ve found that right now I sleep about 2-3 hours between 4/5 am and 6:30/7 am and then another 4-5 hour nap at around noon.  I’m going to try to break that up into organized smaller naps throughout the day and we’ll see how it goes. I’ll try to keep a spreadsheet on my waking/sleeping times.

Dear AT&T
I have been a long time customer to AT&T to the tune of 6 years, have spent thousands of dollars on my service throughout the years, and have been routinely disappointed by the quality of service and corporate policies that AT&T continues to put out. When I first joined AT&T, the standard text messaging rate was roughly $.10 and over the last couple of years that rate has doubled with...

Photography
I really really really want a DSLR, but don’t have the money to dedicate to one. :-( If I did get an entry level DSLR but wanted to make sure I spent it wisely and ensured that I had a good upgrade path, what would I get?

Direct TV Rep: And our customers love watching broadcasts in full 1080p with Dolby surround sound.
Other TV Rep: But not as much as they would like watching it in 1 million 80p.
Other TV Rep Assistant: We don't broadcast in 1 million 80p [do we?]
Other TV Rep: Neither does Direct TV. Booyah! Who just leveled the playing field?

365 days of Photoblogging
unionoffission: somethingamazing: I’m going to start up a photoblog on Flickr in the next couple of days and will be importing the feed into this for your viewing pleasure.  I’m a tad bit nervous about starting it, because, honestly, I’m not good with sticking to goals for extended periods of time. So here goes nothing. (Btw, I’m in need of an iPhone app that will upload pictures to Flickr;...
